TBEP is a phosphate ester, commonly used as a flame retardant in polymer systems. It can also be used together with other flame retardants to help reduce flammability of the polymers.
TBEP has coalescent and plasticizing properties and hence it is used in systems that require a bright finish especially in acrylic-based polishes. It is also used as a defoamer in acrylic gloss paint formulations, giving the paint formulations good rheological properties and wetting properties. It can be used defoaming properties can be extended to other areas such as the paper industry, textile industry and paint industry.
